Virgil goes into great detail on animal husbandry in Book 3 of the Georgics.

Discussion Prompts
  1. Pick one: Cattle, horses, sheep, or goats? Why?
  2. AP Credit: Compare/contrast the Biblical stories about sheep and goats with Virgil’s discussion of sheep and goats.
  3. What do you think about Virgil’s discussion of different herding practices?
  4. What’s your favorite part of Book 3? What’s your least favorite part? Why?

I have a BA in History and Classical Civilization from Loyola University Chicago and an MPH from Western Michigan University. I've been a geometry teacher, a religion teacher, a writing tutor. I'm a writer, a knitter, a dancer, a singer, an actor. And, yes, for fun I like to reread everything that was assigned while getting my classics degree.
